Satisfaction

I took our cable box to Comcast today to cut our cable.  There's a certain satisfaction in knowing that $100 dollars of my money will not go to them anymore.  Especially when i watch all of five channels they provide.
I'm a local channel - Netflix - Hulu - Amazon Instant Video - Internet streaming household now.
There's a certain empowering thing to it as well.  Being able to pick and choose your entertainment sources instead of what's given to you.

    I'm happy we did this... and feel even better now i was thinking it was an 80 buck savings... 100 is even better!!! 50 bucks back in each of our pockets, win/win!

Growing Up Hurt and Humiliated. Part 1

Its occurred to me that in this particular point in my life, I don't have anything to really complain about. I've got a girl, dog, cat, house, and some whiskey in the freezer. I've grown tired of complaining about shiz I can't change; crappy musicians, politics, bad grammar. As I used to be able to go on these rather entertaining rants about what I was pissed off about at that moment, which you can read right at www.myspace.com/mike_henderson (which I haven't posted to in over a year, and the only reason its kept active, is that's because of where I met my girlfriend six years ago). Why I Left Facebook.

I stopped logging into Facebook just about a month ago, and last week, had to finally deactivate. Facebook became a chore. It was no longer fun to log in and see what my friends and family were posting.  It had become a hotbed for idiotic political posts. At first I had tried filters just to change what people posted, then hiding posts.  Then, just trying to let people know that what they were posting just wasn't true.  It became an exercise in futility.  I was getting angry with people that I spoke very little to in real life. I really want to like people that I don't associate with all the time, and their Facebook updates was making it impossible.  Facebook had been turned into FOX News but turned up to eleven.  (Sorry Kell). Kind of like how myspace had become some kind of glittery ghetto of Mtv.
